What are some really nice Arabic names for boys and girls?

Girls: Laila, Aisha, Anisa, Alia, Azana, Amira, Hawa (Eve), Jamila, Jihan, Zahra

Boys: Malik, Ali, Nasir, Karim, Hassan, Jamil, Javen, Amil, Ahmad

If you want to look at more names and their meanings, go to www.babynames.com and do a search for all Arabic names.

BTW - don't listen to this whole "give your baby a Christian name so he can get ahead" thing - maybe your lovely baby doesn't want to end up in some horrible academic institution or job that discriminates against people with Arabic names. I'm not Muslim, but I really can't stand this whole discrimination over religion and race thing. Arabic names are lovely (if I have a baby girl I'm going to name her Laila), hope you find a nice one too

What are some really nice Arabic names for boys and girls?
Psychology Today published a study that surveyed over 500 Human Resource managers and over 150 college admissions counselors at competitive admission universities. The results showed that a person’s first name was a large factor in determining whether or not a person made it past the initial screening process for hiring or admission. People with odd or unusual or exotic names were more likely to be rejected while people with certain names – which Psychology Today termed “power names” – were more likely to pass the initial screening. Here are the top ten “power names” as rated by Psychology Today.

Plus, giving a child an Arabic name in this day and age may further open him up to prejudice and limit his opportunities - good or bad, that's reality.
